Helaba defines Code of Conduct for responsible behaviour

Helaba has defined and published a Code of Conduct for the bank in order to more clearly document the need for responsible behaviour to the public and to hone its corporate sustainability profile by providing a transparent statement of its internal standards of conduct.

  • Code of Conduct based on international conventions and guidelines

Helaba has defined and published a Code of Conduct for the bank in order to more clearly document the need for responsible behaviour to the public and to hone its corporate sustainability profile by providing a transparent statement of its internal standards of conduct.

“Success in business and a responsibility towards society at large are the goals of our daily work. For Helaba and its employees, acting in a responsible, ethical and lawful way is the basic principle it adheres to in the fulfilment of its tasks. This newly published Code of Conduct, to which we orient ourselves, acts as a common guideline that defines a reliable framework for responsible behaviour within the bank as well as towards business partners and the general public”, emphasises Herbert Hans Grüntker, Chairman of Helaba’s Board of Managing Directors.

The Code of Conduct is based on international conventions and guidelines, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the United Nations Global Compact. By participating in the UN Global Compact, which Helaba signed up to in June 2017, the bank affirms its commitment to social responsibility in the core issues of human rights and labour standards, protecting the environment as well as preventing corruption.

„Success in business and a responsibility towards society at large are the goals of our daily work. For Helaba and its employees, acting in a responsible, ethical and lawful way is the basic principle it adheres to in the fulfilment of its tasks. This newly published Code of Conduct, to which we orient ourselves, acts as a common guideline that defines a reliable framework for responsible behaviour within the bank as well as towards business partners and the general public.“

Chairman of Helaba’s Board of Managing Directors

“The Code of Conduct increases awareness of possible risks and thus helps to avoid infringements of the law. Confidence in the reliability and integrity of Helaba forms the basis of our long-term success and future growth”, Grüntker stresses.

The Code summarises existing internal requirements into a general document. The principles defined in it are guidelines for co-operation between employees, customers, business partners, market participants, shareholders, public sector agencies and the general public.
